Writing Rules

Turkish Management Review (TMR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal that publishes theoretical and/or applied original research articles, book reviews, translations, review articles, symposium evaluations, and conference papers in the field of management sciences. The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English.

Until the end of 2025, the journal was published electronically in two issues per year (June and December). As of 2026, Turkish Management Review has adopted a continuous publishing model. Under this model, manuscript submissions are accepted throughout the year, and papers that successfully complete the editorial evaluation and peer-review process are published without waiting for a specific issue. The annual volume structure is maintained.

1. Submission System

All manuscript submissions and publication processes are carried out through the TMR online submission system available at www.turmr.com.

2. Article Types and Length

  • Research articles, review articles, and similar submissions must be between 3,500 and 9,000 words, excluding the Extended Summary.
Manuscripts outside this range will not be considered for evaluation.

  • The Extended Summary must consist of 750–1,000 words.

  • The total manuscript length, including the Extended Summary, must not exceed 10,000 words.

3. Extended Summary Requirement

An Extended Summary is mandatory for all manuscripts:

  • Manuscripts written in Turkish must include an English Extended Summary.

  • Manuscripts written in English must include a Turkish Extended Summary.

  • The Extended Summary must be written without subheadings and should comprehensively reflect the aim, methodology, findings, and conclusions of the study.

  • The Extended Summary must start on a new page and be written carefully in terms of language, clarity, and scope, as it represents the international visibility of both the article and the journal.

4. Originality Requirement

Submitted manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

5. Evaluation Process

Submitted manuscripts undergo the following stages:

  • Editorial pre-check,

  • Plagiarism (similarity) check,

  • Double-blind peer-review process involving at least two reviewers,

  • Language editing (Turkish–English) when deemed necessary.

Manuscripts that fail to meet the requirements during the editorial pre-check, even after three evaluations, will be returned to the author and may not be reconsidered within the same publication year.

6. Plagiarism (Similarity) Report

Authors are required to upload a plagiarism (similarity) report obtained from iThenticate, Turnitin, or intihal.net as a separate file during submission.

Manuscripts:

  • submitted without a plagiarism report,

  • with a similarity rate exceeding 3% from any single source, or

  • with a total similarity rate exceeding 25%,

will not be considered for evaluation.

7. Ethics Committee Approval

For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the relevant Ethics Committee Approval Document must be uploaded during submission.
For studies not requiring ethics approval, an Ethics Committee Approval Not Required” declaration form must be submitted.

8. Formatting and Style

  • References and in-text citations must follow the APA 7 style.

  • Manuscripts must be prepared in full compliance with the journal’s writing rules prior to submission.

  • Authors are required to use the Article Template provided in the Templates and Forms section of the journal website. Manuscripts not prepared in accordance with the template may not be considered.

  • The absence of certain template sections may be acceptable depending on the nature of the study; section headings may vary accordingly.

9. Video Abstract (Recommended)

Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare a video abstract presenting their research in their own words. Submission of a video abstract is considered an advantage (see the Video Abstract Guidelines for details).

BOOK REVIEW GUIDELINES

A book review should not merely summarize the book but should provide a critical evaluation of the work. The review author should:

  • Explain why the book is worth reading,

  • Examine the methods used if the book introduces a new approach,

  • Clearly state the author’s objectives,

  • Support positive or negative evaluations with concrete examples,

  • Maintain objectivity and avoid personal judgments.

Formal requirements:

  • Book reviews must be between 1,000 and 3,000 words.

  • The cover page image of the reviewed book must be included.

  • Title information must include the book title, author, place of publication, publisher, year of publication, total number of pages, and ISBN.

  • The reviewer’s name should be placed below the title information; author details should be provided at the bottom of the page.

  • The book cover image must appear on the first page.

GROUNDS FOR REJECTION / NON-PUBLICATION

Manuscripts will not be considered for evaluation and/or publication if they meet any of the following conditions:

  • Failure to submit a plagiarism report, or exceeding 3% similarity from a single source or 25% total similarity,
